The Crosley Super Musicone - A Major Innovation
![]()
CWP received a patent in 1924 for his design of a cone-type speaker. He sold the design to Crosley Radio, who marketed it as the Crosley Musicone. A later model, pictured here, was called the Crosley Super Musicone, and was first produced in 1927. The Musicone was an important step between old horn speakers and today's speaker. Crosley later manufactured a "Tilt Table Musicone" and Musicones to be installed in consoles in the home.1
