This post is just six words long!

I know if I put my mind to it
I know I can find a good rhyme here!

Ahhh… Weird Al songs aside, twice last week I came across a piece in Wired magazine where they asked sci-fi, fantasy, and horror writers to contribute six word short stories.

Here are some of my favorites:

It’s behind you! Hurry before it
- Rockne S. O’Bannon

Machine. Unexpectedly, I’d invented a time
- Alan Moore

Then, I came across it on Slashdot, and found a whole lot more that I liked even better, granted many of them aren’t legitimate stories but are instead commentaries on the premise.

Main screen turn on. It’s you!!
Unfortunately counting is difficult for some people.
Surprise! Someone kidnapped on last page.
Posters lament “too long, didn’t read!”.

And my favorite…

This task is easier with Germancompoundnouns.

More Library School Fun

I’m not normal. I realize this every time I go to class and we talk about something like cataloging or how the different parts of the book came to be, and I find that I’m really enjoying myself and think that it’s just about the most interesting thing ever. On the other hand, I guess that means that I’m doing the right thing with my life, so that’s cool.

There are some things that we’ve talked about that I think “normal” people would find interesting, and here they are: Read more…

Sweet Lou has been hired, not by the evil Yankees, but by the hapless Cubbies. We’ll see how Lou does in the Friendly Confines trying to manage the Loveable Losers. Good luck to you, Lou! (but not when you’re playing the Giants. Or the Brewers)

Wrigley Field is awesome! Check out our pics: http://www.intemporal.org/pictures/pictures.asp?event=20060811-Chicago

Riding the Football Roller Coaster

Posted by Adrienne on under Arsenal, Football, Seahawks, Soccer | No Comments

I suppose you could say that following any sport is like riding a roller coaster – there are going to be ups and downs. But the dips on the roller coasters are way more fun than the dips in following sports. I mean, who gets really excited when their team goes on a huge losing streak? That would just be crazy.

Four football games in these last few days were on my radar, and here’s my take on each of them. Read more…

Yay! Tonsils!

Posted by Josh on under Brewers, Random Thought | 1 Comment

I’m getting my tonsils removed tomorrow. I’ve never had them removed (go figure), so I’m not entirely sure what to expect, except that I won’t be going to work for a week. Adrienne has stocked up on food items that supposedly should be possible for me to eat (Jell-O, mashed potatoes, Ensure vitamin/protein drink, pudding, etc.) and I hear crushed ice is the best thing since sliced bread–only it’s better because I don’t think I’ll be able to eat sliced bread for a few days.

Have you had your tonsils removed? What did you eat?

I also have plenty of things to watch (first three seasons of The Pretender, and the first three seasons of Farscape (of which I’ve already seen a lot)) and read (Adrienne checked out some books for herself that I might like, not to mention about 10-15 books I bought at the Seattle Public Library Book Sale last month).

Now, I leave you with these thoughts from a couple posters on the Brewerfan.net website:

Bill: There were some highlights that year (2002)
Daron: Definitely. Like that win in August. The one in May as well.

The Brewers had so much fun during the losing-seasons streak, they decided to start another.
