Today should be a national holiday. Kids shouldn’t have to go to school, businesses should be closed. Why? Because it’s Baseball’s Opening Day! Hooray!
The Mariners start their 2008 campaign today against the Rangers down at SAFECO Field. And for today, the M’s are the team to beat in the AL West. Starting today, there will be hot dogs, green grass, Seventh Inning stretches, hydroplane races and “Fly, fly aways!” Today is the start of many Ichiro diving catches, Felix caught lookings, Adrian Beltre doubles, Kenji clutch hits, Yuni & Jose double-plays, JJ 3-up-3-downs in the top of the 9th, Rauuuuuul 3 run home runs, EriK goes-down-swingings, and sweet, sweet Mariner victories. Today is the start of the season when the Mariners win the pennant, win the Series, and bring a championship to the Emerald City. Today is a little taste of summer before summer actually comes. Today is magic.
Today may not be a holiday on the calendar, but it sure feels like one. Let’s go! Mar-i-ners!
We’ll give Stewart the Penguin a break today, and take a look at a doodle of something completely different:

It’s a dragon! I guess you could probably tell without the little label, but some days, I just feel the need to label things. Clearly, this dragon has a mean streak…look at the nasty grin he has, and the charred skull on the ground beside him. Nonetheless, I quite like him. He looks pretty cartoon-y, but most of my drawings do, so I’m okay with it. And the skull just cracks me up.
Um…it’s snowing in Seattle. In March. Big, white flakes, falling from the sky. What’s going on? This isn’t the midwest! Or Montana! Or Cleveland! Opening Day is in a few days, it can’t be snowing! And how come it had to happen on my day off?
Okay, I’m going to go back to staring out the window now.
We’re in the midst of spring cleaning here, and have found a box containing books that we either have another copy of or have no interest in reading. Because we always want to pass on the goodness of the written word, we thought we’d post a list of these books that we want to get rid of here. If you’re interested in a book, leave a comment or come and talk to us (if you can find us! hahaha!) and we’ll work something out.
Most of these books are in very good condition (none of them are falling apart, but some have writing/highlighting in them, or old library labels on the covers). All books with a % by them are in hardcover. Here’s the list:
