I really like how this picture turned out. It was the best of the 20+ shots I took of the rock stack Adrienne made. The two big challenges I had in getting the shot I wanted was some other tree debris poking its long branches into the frame, and that the tree it was set on was not parallel to the horizon. I wasn’t quite sure whether I should orient the camera to match the tree (and consequently the rocks) or the horizon (and consequently the rest of reality). I finally settled with the former, because the foreground just didn’t look right with the rocks all tilted.
It’s kind of amazing that the sky was so clear and the water was as serene as it was given the weather we had for much of the weekend. That was the weekend it snowed in Seattle… in April! We drove up from Casey to Oak Harbor and ate at Applebee’s for dinner that night, and on the way back there was hail. I found this Real Life Comics strip from the Monday following that weekend to be strangely appropriate.

After a weekend of scrubbing, sweeping and vacuuming (how in the world did that apartment get so incredibly dirty?), we have finished cleaning our old apartment, and have moved everything to our new condo. Yay!
Once we get things a little more organized, and once our new sectional is delievered, we’ll be putting up a photo tour, so check back in a few weeks for more! (but don’t let that keep you from checking sooner, because we’ll probably have other interesting content between now and then!)

This is the Gettysburg Cemetery at Gettysburg Battlefield Park. It’s a fitting image for the day.

More fun with paper and pencil! Check it out!

Since Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, I thought I’d show Stewart in a summer activity, that is, making a sandcastle at the beach. I love going to the beach. I used to make sandcastles when we’d go to the beach when I was younger, but I haven’t done that for awhile. One of my favorite things about this doodle is the windblown trees in the background. That’s very much an Oregon and Washington coast thing – I don’t know about the northern Atlantic coast, like in Maine or Massachusetts, but you see those kinds of trees all the time on the Oregon coast especially. And if you look closely at the foreground, you’ll see that Stewart is taking a bit of a risk – he’s pretty close to the tideline. Hope your castle doesn’t succumb to the waves before you’re finished with it, Stewart!

I found this somewhere in the vast reaches of the Internet, and I thought it would be fun to do. If you like it too, feel free to do your own! And please guess on mine and leave your guess in the comments!
On to the meme! Here are the rules:
- Pick 15 of your favorite movies
- Go to IMDB and find a quote from each movie (or quote them from memory because you are that awesome) *I am not that awesome – I had to use IMDB
- Post them on your blog for everyone to guess
- Fill in the film title once it’s been guessed
And the quotes:
- “I don’t want to be in a battle. But waiting on the edge of one I can’t escape is even worse.” The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
- “This is true love – you think this happens every day?” The Princess Bride
- “And where does the power come from, to see the race to its end? From within.” Chariots of Fire
- “Asps… very dangerous. You go first” Raiders of the Lost Ark
- “There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred.” Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail (yes, really)
- “And do you or do you not have trouble following these simple instructions?”
“Only during thunderstorms!” The Sound of Music
- “Perhaps we’ve been incorrectly labeled.” The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
- “I put it all on Lucky Dan; half a million dollars to win.” The Sting
- “It’s surrounded by guards and video monitors and little families from Iowa and little kids on their eighth grade field trips.” National Treasure
- “I can’t deal with cleaning up. Let’s sell the house.” Apollo 13
- “If he’d just pay me what he’s spending to make me stop robbing him, I’d stop robbing him.” Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
- “It’s my first ray gun.” Star Trek: First Contact
- “Well, ain’t this place a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere!” O Brother, Where Art Thou?
- “Sure, they’re cute now, but in a second they’re gonna get mean, and they’re gonna get ugly somehow, and there’s gonna be a million more of them.” Galaxy Quest
- “You cannot refuse to dance, I am sure, when so much beauty is before you.” Pride and Prejudice (the A&E version)
Good luck!
